…tender juicy tasty
Ok Filipino readers of this page…can you still remember the tune of the advert of Purefoods hotdogs?
Well, when I picked up those mangoes on my previous post, the lady was unpacking the rest of the boxes that arrived from Manila.
Goodness, purefoods hotdogs!!!
OK, I do not buy most of the imported products from Philippines knowing for the fact it has travelled thousand miles
and most food has my worst enemy… COLOURINGS!
But out of the feeling that “wow that was only a treat when I was growing up in the Philippines” I bought a pack.
Its 5€ a kilo.
When I opened the casings and sliced them I had red dye all over my hands
Nah may it be laden with chemicals, I had my share of walk down memory lane!
No, sorry i don’t remember… but i do remember i used to love it. Sha, if you have any leftovers, you can make caldereta. They put this in apparently.
Oh, do you remember those ones with cheese in the middle? My oh my, they were my favourite!
I don’t remember the tune either but I still love hotdogs made in the Phils. Sausages here can’t compare…
sha,
i do remember the jingle. “tender juicy tasty, just right to the bite..dun-dun-dun-dun, that’s purefoods hotdogs!”…i also love this commercial that they had, yung merong little girl writing in her diary—yung “carlo sat beside me today…sabi niya, i’m pretty..kaya mula ngayon, goodbye chocolates, goodbye ice cream, (tapos sabay tingin dun sa purefoods hotdog na kakainin niya, and she had a sudden change of heart)”goodbye carlo!”
o di ba, i have a good memory…aaah, i want purefoods hotdog now! 😀
hello there ate sha. I miss that kind of hotdog brand
Oh! I miss that. That was my breakfast during my stay in the city ( during summer only).
ANNA BANANA OF KOREA GOT IT RIGHT….
Oh no I know a different jingle. “Oh it’s so tender, it’s so juicy, it’s meatier, it’s tastier the one we loooove. So tender and juicy toooooo, we thank you Mom for Purefoods Tender that we love so much!” Grill those hotdogs an smear ’em with bbq sauce. Yummeh.
allo! i’m not making tampo-tampo naman ate sha-sha hehehe…i wanna avoid your blog like the bubonic kasi naman tinotorture mo ko sa mga pictures mo. everytime i come here i end up slobbering all over my pc screen kaya puro laway na yung computer ko, you’re a punishment! a punishment! lalo na yung mangga youghurt sa ibaba.
alam ko yan older version ng purefoods hotdog:
‘happiness is…
having a brother and having purefoods hotdog…lalala’
2 of my nephews appeared in their tv ads and prints many years ago. oo nga eh, masyado artificial coloring ng mga hotdogs sa atin ‘no?!
i might abandon the plan on climbing mt. olympus, di yata makakaakyat ng bundok si charlie pango at baka hikain hahaha…. di naman pwede itali na lang yon basta sa isang puno at the foot of the mountain para hintayin tayo until we descend, baka gawin syang bato ni medusa iiyak si thesskya nyan, naging gargoyle na lang si charlie mwahahaha… punta na lang tayo aegina islet di ba 2 hrs. from athens by ferry lang? kain tayo deep fried baby fishes and calamares. i miss those, they’re one of the best i’ve ever eaten there when i was in greece 3 years ago.
yasas!
Wouldn’t you miss all the pinoy tv commercials playing shampoo’s three times in a row? Mas mabenta ata shampoo kesa sa purefoods, I don’t remember the jingle.
Breakfast to lunch, merienda to dinner, typical Mom’s in Pinas has all the purefoods brands in their fridge – kids love them kahit “dyed”. If they say Purefoods is for smart kids – GO ako!
Masarap yung bulilit bites! 8)
Sha, hotdog was one of my favorite with the pandesal. We rarely have them at home. There is one sari-sari store near our house who sels fried small hotdog because they sells breakfast to some workers to nearby factory.
So I just remember when my father give me 10 cents everyday.. i’ll go run to the shop, buy myself the fried hotdog.. and make my own sandwich.. eh oui!!
Humble childhood memories. But during that time.. they do not put much colorings and more or less natural
hey alam ko din yang “goodbye Carlo!” hehehe
Miss ko na tender juicy with all the red colourings hahaha Gross man pero aaminin ko na, I used to slurp the “juices” & wipe it off with pandesal hehehe YUM YUM
I used to love them for breakfast with sinangag back in P.I. but since I’m living here now in the country of sausages. I don’t think, I would ever like to taste this hotdog again. BTW, I’m not really fond of german sausages kakaumay at nakakasawa ,lol
sha, i was trying to link the LP8 logo!
Heh heh you know, I always find it weird that hotdogs are not colored red. Lumaki kasi ako on red hotdogs at parang may kulang pag hindi red ang kinain kong hotdog.
I don’t like hotdogs because as a kid I grew up with these as my lunch baon. I hated it so much because the red coloring sticks to the rice and by 12 noon, the sausages tastes like cold chewing gums. I like to eat this though if its fresh from the pan and a bit burned.
My favorite sausages now are the dried Italian Cacciatore and Spanish Fuet. I’ve realized my tastes buds are geared to the spicier ones. The German, French, Dutch and Belgian dried sausages are less spiced, so I have had enough of them. I still have a dried Tirolean sausage here but my stomach don’t want to eat it anymore. I will just serve this when I have guests.
Yes Purefood! Fav hotdog ng mga bata. Pero mas na associated ko ito later on sa basketball team na Purefoods with the likes of Patrimonio, Lastimosa, Cordinera … hmmm yummeh! Hahaha!
WHEN WE LEFT PHILS JAWO WAS THE MAN THEN WHEN WE CAME HOME IN 1989 PUREFOOD BASKETBALL TEAM WAS VERY POPULAR…hmmm Madam C I know the names of these guys… so you prefer them than the actual hotdogs…
K ikaw talaga… siguro puno ng pure foods ang fridge ninyo eh lumaki ako wala fridge eh

i’ve eaten all kinds of franks, sausages, and kielbasas and some of them have been good…but I MISS PUREFOODS TENDER, JUICY HOTDOGS!
Purefoods hotdogs with eggs, Purefoods hotdogs sliced and sauteed with onions, Purefoods hotdogs on a stick…mmm-mmm…
i haven’t had any in a long time. i don’t think our local oriental store carries any, and we haven’t found a true-blue filipino store nearby yet.
“tender, juicy, tasty…just right to the bite!” i miss it!
oo sha mas masarap hotdog sa tin kesa sa hotdok ng chinese… este… hotdog d2 sa china. i tried few sausages also when i traveled to europe ages ago pero d ko din nagustuhan e…
i rarely get the chance to go there… saka super mahal naman tinda nila. There’s pinoy store near my place where at least I get “magnolia ice cream”! hehehe
Sha! ah the memories of home and food coloring. what i miss the most from PureFood is their corned beef and carne norte. I like those chunky bites of beef, very different from the hereford we can buy. Here in the states, I have found Palm which is closest.
Luv ko talaga purefoods hotdogs. alala ko nung bata ako yun lagi pagkain sa umaga. mahal dito sa malaysia purefoods. haaay.
