Greengrocer at Vibo Valentia, Italy
After another ride over the swells when we left Naples, we arrived at Vibo Valentia of the Calabrian region of Southern Italy.
As soon we were done with the wash down and clean up, I told the crew we need to get some fruits and wine for our clams.
Came along Mick and Ben… this photo is what I call just the moment of spontaneousity.
I just paid our shopping when I stepped out this man was bundling courgettes flowers. Sun was setting down and he was below a canvas… did not even have time to set my camera. I just clicked wishing for a good photo.
Indeed ah oh he gave me a smile.
More of clams on next post we will be up 530am tomorrow will cross the Strait of Messina to the other side of Italy. Few more days to Venice and perhaps few more days of big swells.
Wonderful blog- just found you through Food Porn Watch and I love you photos and the travelogue approach! Also, beautiful header- where was that pic taken… I want to go!
Hi Sha, been a while. How are you na?
The shot came out nice actually. I thought the courgettes are the pumpkins flower? Sya ba yun? Not familiar. Parang laid back sa Italy on that region, look at the people on the street, mga naka chinelas pa.
I wanna see how you’ll cook the courgettes on your next post.
Miss you Ate Sha.
Knoiz… am ok standing up picking up life and working.

its best stuffed with cheese then fried
or just simply fried
this is a different part of italy south is more relax where we have been the past months up north west along the coast lines of the Riviera is more posh. Its a brilliant change of scenery down here…
HI DEborah… most of the photos here are either Norway the fjords and the Swiss Alps, the one of the sea is Greece my “home”
naku inday sha inggitius naman ako sa mga bulaklak na yan! can never forget the first time i had them, stuffed with ricotta cheese then cooked in marinara sauce w/other veggies by a Swiss Italian grandma….great exciting post! you must have the very best sturdy sea legs for those swells!
di ko yata yan ma-took… good for you!
