Village Market South Turkey
This was in south coast of Turkey is a small village called Kekova. The nearest town in the map must be Kas.
Here not far from the harbour is a sunken city of the Lycian period.
Eating wise we had it the Turkish way of breakfast, cucumber, tomato and olives.
Grilled seafood at night and few basic fruits from the village store.
did you also have those turkish cheese they eat for breakfast? I’ve never liked turkish breakfast. It’s too healthy for me ;D
me still prefers the greasy kind of breakfast- bacon and eggs please!
i so love turkish breakfast. with ultra strong turkish coffee! your post just makes me want to go back to istanbul. the first time i went there was during delta air lines’ inaugural atlanta-istanbul flight years ago. while waiting inside the plane (albeit shipping champage) and wondering why we were one hour past the scheduled departure time, a group of uniformed FBI men stormed inside and handcuffed/arrested a passenger back in the coach section. minutes later, a whole crew of CNN reporters were all over the place. we had to vacate the plane, got quarantined for over 3 hours on the tarmac while each and every bag of the over 300 passengers on board were off-loaded and physically identified by every passenger. Six hours later, we were allowed back in the plain and flew uneventfully. but as we were taxiing down istanbul airport, we saw armed turkish men waiting for our plane. same ordeal. had to wait inside the plane, reporters everywhere etc. oh and the ordeal didn’t end there. the hotel we were booked in was no longer standing due to a massive earthquake that shook istanbul days before. luckily we found a nicer one. on the way back, our plane (a huge MD-11) had to make an emergency stop at the augusta regional airport to refuel!
Never without your cam sha. Lucky to be seeing such beautiful places…
shaluvly,
have i thanksed you for the postcard? i actually blogged about it eh.. anyway, maraming salamat! 😀 hugs!
looks nice. it reminds me of a market place on the rural areas
sha, do you know that i live vicariously through you? LOVE all the market pics that you have here. this one looks particularly quaint and peaceful.
Hi Sha! Great to hear from you. Been missing you terribly…
What a lovely village-y type market. At least you don’t have to wait for a queu, ha?
Hope you’re keeping well.
i thought at first this photo was taken in the philippines…it looks like one of the small markets in our probinsya… 🙂
off main route markets seem to look the same all over the world. you could mistake this one as one of those in malaysia, indonesia, thailand or the philippines. the only difference would be the local produce.
turkish cheese, duke? what does it taste like? there was a wide range of cheese in athens, which is a neighboring country.
i tried yak cheese in nepal. it was nice!
Sha,
Great photo, tindahan daplin sa dan, i’ve seen same scenario when i passed south of turkey but it was way back 1993? From Rhodes we crossed to Marmaris all through the coast to the Syrian border. Fantastic hospitality!!!!
