Kastana 2€/ 7 pieces
Autumn brings out chestnuts.. .while walking along Ermou St. in central Athens last Sunday, from a far I could smell roasted chestnuts wafting the air.
On my previous blog I posted food & travel related photos which I titled MOMENTS.. A collection of photo essays taken from my travels and walkabouts.
On this new blog, I will put the captured moments under the title Στιγμιότυπα – Stigmiotipa literally means in photo language SNAPSHOTS.
Στιγμι means moment
Stigmaios is momentary or instantaneous.
When we were kids, castanas meant christmas. Nakapagmuni-muni tuloy ako sa post mo 🙂
The corn looks really good. I remember this being done in Phils, di ba?
Those castanas look amazing! Is it my imagination or are they kinda huge? Wow! This is making me crave… 🙂
AL: for me castana is the beginning of the cold days.. cant remember having this in Phils kasi.
I have seen the majestic trees early autumn when the pod starts bursting…then I know winter is on the way.
MAE: THANK you for reminding me that, havent give the corn much thought till now.
JOEY: big yes but I dont buy I buy mine at the market for 3.50 euro a kilo.. its not the money that I pay more at this man, its because the one they sell its not well cooked inside.
sha, you need to teach me how to recognize the horse chestnuts fr the real chestnus…are they both edible? there are so many ancient chestnut trees around here and no one picks up the fallen nuts…sayang! the scent of chestnuts roasting is so Christmassy really.
